wolveskeeper 0 Posted December 31, 2004 This sad bear is located in a small zoo near tel aviv it?s a SYRIAN BEAR (Ursus arctos syriana sub) species of the brown bear like the great grizzly bear, and it has no grass or soil to walk on its all concrete, no toys to play with. I went ther after a bad article in the newspaper and I wanted to see it in my own eyes, and this is what I found sad bear Link to comment
john_park1 0 Posted December 31, 2004 The photo tells a sad story. I hope the article raises local awareness and gets improved conditions for the bear. Link to comment
john falkenstine 1 Posted December 31, 2004 Absolutely amazing that animals, especially bears with their very high IQ, are kept like this. I thought that most of these enclosures were done away with some 40 years ago....See my personal experience from a long time ago. This bear never even got a chance to swim or exercise and the smell was awful. http://www.photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=2222992 Link to comment
