cappoldt 0 Posted December 30, 2004 Whata poser! Sharp as a tack, nice comp. How do you like that lens? Link to comment
ron c sunshine coast, qld,a 0 Posted December 30, 2004 Excellent cropping. Pitty the head is out of focus allthough i see you have tired to sharpen the eye at least and also the beak? Link to comment
dennis_kelly1 0 Posted December 30, 2004 The lens is excellent, one of Sigma's best, IMO. Although I did get to borrow a friends Nikon 500mm f/4 af-s last week and must say...THAT is a lens! For the price difference though, I'm quite happy with the Sigma... Link to comment
dennis_kelly1 0 Posted December 30, 2004 I used f/2.8 to keep up the shutter speed because of the heavy fog/low light, and the fact I was on a moving ferry, so my DOF was lacking a bit...good eye on the sharpening though (no pun). Link to comment
cappoldt 0 Posted December 31, 2004 That you got this off a moving ferry in this light is astounding. What ISO? Also, have you considered your next buy as a Sigma 500mm? I read a lot of reviews - though minimum aparature is 4.5, it's supposed to be a glorious alternative at less than half a Nikon. Link to comment
dennis_kelly1 0 Posted December 31, 2004 I usually shoot at that whenever possible, I think it gives a sharper picture, and with the faster lenses it usually works out. I'll have to try the Sigma 500mm and see how it compares, but I've found a few good used Nikon 500mm (although the older af-s 1 versions, but just as good and almost as fast to focus) for around what the Sigma costs, but they usually get snatched up as soon as they go in the display case. Anyway, more decisions down the road... Thanks again... Dennis Link to comment
