f1-fanatic 0 Posted December 21, 2004 Did some cropping here to get this shot the way it is shown here.. I am still learning and having the aid of the people here on photo.net really shortens the learning curve. Another thing that has really helped is the ability to use Photoshop to explore different crops to find better composition so the next time I pick up the camera, I know what to look for and how to capture the moment "full frame" without the need of croping. The progress made in digital technology and the people here on NP really have helped me in my 9 short months.. So thank you all! Any constructive criticism is greatly appreciated. -Norman Link to comment
dhawks 0 Posted December 21, 2004 Wow, I feel like I'm in a spin...do I turn into it or away from it. A fine capture of some pretty intense motion. Great work, Norman. Link to comment

f1-fanatic 0 Posted December 22, 2004 I am besides myself... Thank you Harry and Vic very much. Your commetns have left me somewhat speechless. Harry: Your work is jaw dropping... Everything... from your exciting choice of subject matter to the razor sharp and vibrant images you capture are mind blowing. Vic: Your work is an emotional roller coaster and is absolutely gripping! Every time I go back to study your work with medium format B&W I am floored. Everything from your choice of composition to your use of light is a lesson in itself and has inspired me to try my hand at digital B&W (unfortunately no medium format in my near future). Thank you both very, very much for taking to time to view this photo... Your comments are valuable and appreciated more than you could know. All the best - NP Link to comment
tim_adams 0 Posted December 22, 2004 Excellent shot. Way to hold up us 10D shooters. Yes you can shoot sports with a 10D, although I think I hear a 20D calling my name. Only minor nit, maybe you could bring up more detail in the black portion of the paint with the shadow/highlight tool in PS. Link to comment
f1-fanatic 0 Posted December 25, 2004 Thanks for the support. I still consider myself to be an intermediate/beginner and need to learn as much as I can before making any changes other than glass with my equipment... but I agree the 20D does look inviting! I love most things about the 10D but feel my next camera will be a 1D mk II over the 20D if I had to make a decision now. My only reason is the speed of the AF engine which I hear is considerably faster. I just cannot justify the investment at this time so I will probably shoot the 10D until it dies. Thanks for taking the time to view my photo and for the comments. I included the photo below after experimenting with the shadow/highlight tool as you suggested. Any better???? Link to comment

tim_adams 0 Posted December 28, 2004 Norman, I guess I was wrong. I like the first one better. It's always a fine line you walk with the shadow/highlight tool. Link to comment
f1-fanatic 0 Posted December 29, 2004 I am a novice with Photoshop... So while it is a fine line, I am sure with some practice, I could do better with it. Thanks again for the suggestions and help. Link to comment
