f1-fanatic 0 Posted December 18, 2004 Nice shot... it took me a while to figure out what it was but I finally got it. Great idea! 6/7 Link to comment
root 0 Posted December 18, 2004 Jerry, the A2 is mostly for walking around without a tripod. Link to comment
root 0 Posted December 18, 2004 Norman, It's chrome in a sort of quilted pattern . . sort of like the old Kaiser aluminum foil. There are couple older ones like this that were shot at night. See the 'diner' folder. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted December 18, 2004 I bought the A1 as gift for a friend, pretty good camera. The A2 is about as good as it gets for a point and shoot digital. Link to comment
atle.g 0 Posted December 18, 2004 very good!! great play between the patterns and colors...and the shadow line at bottm "anchoring" the comp well. Link to comment
Sandeha Lynch 5 Posted December 18, 2004 I see what you meant about the Escher comment - like fish merging. Now excuse me while go and read up the specs of this camera ... Link to comment
baldurbirgis 0 Posted December 19, 2004 I like both the color range and how all the "floating" triangles work together. Like they are drawn to the lower left corner. The softness to the upper right makes a perfect balance. Beautiful seen and capture. Link to comment
dave_nitsche 0 Posted December 20, 2004 Triangles galore in this one Carl. Nice Capture. Funny I was trying to shoot the same thing a couple weeks ago and came up with the most horrible stuff. This is a lot harder than it looks... Whats also funny is that I just got MF gear. You go digital, I go film... well rounded people we are... lol. Dave Link to comment
root 0 Posted December 20, 2004 Hope you got one that will take a digital back. Read the Luminous-landscape article from yesterday, when you get a chance. (It's only $30K:-)) Link to comment
dave_nitsche 0 Posted December 20, 2004 Carl, nope, not just yet. Amazing technology for sure and in 5 or 6 years I should be able to afford a very old beater. I have shot with a Hassy H1 and Leaf back (think it was leaf) at a digital studio for work. Graphic design is really grabbing onto MF digital technology and it's nice to be able to 'play' with this stuff. Trying to justify the expense to the bosses above with little luck. Link to comment
davidmccracken 2 Posted December 21, 2004 I must admit I am a little confused by the title. Having said that it is a very interesting picture. Link to comment
root 0 Posted December 21, 2004 David, it's a reflection shot. Look closely at the upper left corner. Link to comment
davidmccracken 2 Posted December 21, 2004 Reflection I understand. Of what... I don't. In what... I don't. Maybe my eyes are failing me.... too many beers! Link to comment
root 0 Posted December 21, 2004 Think of a chrome surface that has a texture defined by many small convex diamonds. I'm standing on the sidewalk in a parking lot shooting up into a soffit of a diner. Link to comment
Sandeha Lynch 5 Posted December 22, 2004 I'd assumed you were referring to the name of the building ... but that's a license plate? Link to comment
root 0 Posted December 22, 2004 Yes it is . . . but the hood ornament gives it away, and the combination makes the headlight below it a little easier to read. Link to comment
vlad po... 1 Posted December 27, 2004 Excellent, both color and pattern. Interesting idea. A good choice of camera. You are right, just walk without a tripod. Anti Shake tech is what most of photographers are missing, I guess, not only in digital P&S but in DSLRs too (especially keeping in mind 'zooming race'). The only doubt, how noisy will be the stuff at ISO over 64. At least your other shot (fire escape) looks very clean. Link to comment
root 0 Posted December 28, 2004 Vlad, this was shot just before sunset and had a fair amount of contrast - just the sort of conditions that could challenge the camera - yet I'm happy with the noise level. The trick for me is to learn to trust the histogram and "expose to the right". Link to comment
salvatore.mele 1 Posted January 22, 2005 I've spent a fair amount of time looking at it, and I find it very pleasent. I like the transition regions between the different colours and shapes. After all, there is a lot of them, still, they nicely and gracefully blend into each others, with no clashes. In this frame of mind I like that single mirror (second full from the bottom left) in which you have roughtly all the shapes and almost all the colours of the shot: it's the quintessence of the soffit of the diner! scott_clarke 0 Posted April 6, 2006 Many wonderful abstracts in here. This one really stands out. Lovely golden color, and a strong composition. EXCELLENT FOLDER. Regards. Link to comment
