mandar1 0 Posted December 16, 2004 Had never seen a red elevator (!), and needless to say the only place to find one is NYC. Could not stop myself from documenting this ;). What do you think?--- Comments/critiques welcome as always. Link to comment
travis_pierson 0 Posted December 17, 2004 Is it out of focus to give a sense of movement? Reminds me of a Nan Goldin, on the fly-type of urban image. I'm on the fence as to whether this gives it context and makes it edgy and interesting or just blurry. If it wasn't blurry, I probably wouldn't be thinking about it because I would have just seen another photo of a red door. Link to comment
mandar1 0 Posted December 17, 2004 Thanks for your observations and comments. To be honest I did not intend the blurred/defocused effect -- the elevator was decelerating and that added to the effect, but when I looked at the photograph I noticed that the motion/energy part was much nicely conveyed by the blurr and wanted to hear what other people had to say. I hope that answers your question. I will now have to read more about Nan Goldin's work -- Thanks. Link to comment
nb 0 Posted December 28, 2004 Interesting composition & color, not sure about the Nan Goldin analogy though :). This could even go into your 'color' folder. Thanks for your critique of my photo. Link to comment
travis_pierson 0 Posted January 7, 2005 Just to clarify the Nan Goldin reference that I made -- obviously the photo is not of a naked New York junkie or transvestite -- I just meant that it had a raw/urban/interior/snapshot/blurry vibe. Link to comment
