scharin 0 Posted September 26, 2001 No, it's not a candid shot. As Mr. MacEachern pointed out, that's not easy with a 4x5. However, when I do a 4x5 portrait, I try not to have things too posed. Typically, I set the camera up, put in the film holder, pull the darkslide, and then interact with the subject until the right moment. Since I lose the camera view from the moment the film holder is in place, I don't have exact control of the framing. In most cases, the freedom with respect to catching the moment more than makes up for the slight loss of compositional control. Link to comment
