michaelk 0 Posted December 16, 2004 This is a great ad for paxil:-) The gray border has to go, I agree. This is a great photo showing what it feels like to be alone in the midst of people. Link to comment
david_tatkin 0 Posted December 16, 2004 Love the imagery and emotion it draws from me. Captivating. Link to comment
matt_mohr 0 Posted December 16, 2004 Great idea. The blackness of the figure and the people on the shore really tell the story. Without either, the message would not be so clear. Anyone who has ever been alone in the midst of people who clearly are not, would understand why the figure is depicted in such a state of darkness. The hazyness of the figures and background also restate the disconnection the figure feels. Contrast is the theme, contrast of shade, people, actions, environment, its all there. Link to comment
thomas_turk 0 Posted December 16, 2004 Composition not strict nor clear. Blank off the first seven shadowy figures on your left, and note, the subject now being at the edge of the pix., that the comp. becomes more balanced and clear. So now Jenny Walker would have much more prominence, a longer way to walk, and..there is also less ghostly clutter in the background. Super exposure. Link to comment
This is a terrific photo, I think it is a must, to remove the black copyright on the corner. I would also use another frame. Link to comment
belenalvarez 0 Posted December 18, 2004 Preciosa imagen Miguel. Por que no pruebas a ponerle el marco exterior en negro?. Creo que recogeria mucho mas la imagen. Link to comment

stu carnie 0 Posted December 27, 2004 Great picture. I too am a great fan of monochromatic images - timeless. Was the foreground figure darkened in anyway, or is the image essentially "as shot"? Cheers, Stuart Link to comment

dhiren 0 Posted December 27, 2004 How is this photographically possible ? Sky looks overcast and there's lot of haze in the air, lighting should be uniform, how did he get silhouette ? I see these effect done in [digital] post-processing, we are again at the same juncture of digital manipulation ... I dont think i am alone when i say lets see the original image first ! chachi_arcola 0 Posted December 28, 2004 Thoughtful composition. To my eye it looks like the lone figure has been burned in either digitally or in the wet darkroom. While there's obviously nothing wrong with that in principle, the result looks unnatural to me and, given the lighting, physically impossible. It's odd (and frankly interesting) to me that the central figure would be silhoutted while the background figures (of which there are many) show much detail. Maybe the opposite would have been more effective? Link to comment
graham_morriss2 0 Posted December 28, 2004 got to say the first photo of the week i've admired in a long time but got to ask is there photoshop wizardry involved i.e the strong sillouhette compared to the detailed background if not i apologise but all in all a lovely shot. Link to comment
olov 0 Posted December 28, 2004 This unnatural contrast is very disturbing.. So disturbing that I end up concentrating on only that. (maybe it comes from a channel mixing b&w processing?) Anyway, who cares where it comes from.. the fact is it's the only black area in the photo, that is good to depict loneliness but it does'nt look natural and I believe the distance with the other people is sufficent to give this lone feeling. More detail on the subjet, highlights giving away her expression would improve the picture I think. Also, a tiny detail, the bottom right corner seems green !? Cheers =) Link to comment
marina-cano 0 Posted December 28, 2004 Enhorabuena!!! Es fantastica la foto. Es precisamente esa atmosfera inquietante la que la hace irremediablemente atractiva. Un beso en b/n, a contraluz y silueteado. Lo traduciria... but ... Link to comment
