Temple Ceremony, Mount Batur, Bali (2)

any feedback much appreciated

I live in this part of the world so I know just how difficult it is to take good photos in the harsh tropical sun (and the best times of the day, dawn and dusk, only last a fleeting moment ...). The subject is worthy of your/our attention but the strong contrast makes the photo a bit confusing. As you probably had no option (shoot or not, that's all) the only thing I can suggest is to simplify the composition with some cropping to bring out the girls face more. I'd crop the bottom left just above the head band base (excluding the ear and the person on the extreme left front row), then also crop the top to remove all trace of sky. After that some dodge and burn perhaps ... hope you don't mind all these suggestions.

 

PS I like the spot of light on the flower she's holding.

this shot is nice - it would be nice to see more of the little girls face out of the shadows but I understand the nature of the shot and how you can't really ask the person to move etc - I did look at your portfolio and it is stunning - your work is so beautiful - taken in fabulous locations the colors you produce are simply amazing - excellent work - I didnt see / read a bio but I guess you are a professional and are getting paid for your work :) 6/6
