colin carron 58,916 Posted December 10, 2004 I remember the weather forecast on the car radio when I stopped for a quick shot of this field. All comments welcome! Link to comment
allen_davies 0 Posted December 10, 2004 Sometimes a grab shot really turns out well. I like this one. Looks like a typical English afternoon. The tree stands out well from the background and fits the rule of thirds. Good work. Link to comment
photos of hans koot 0 Posted December 10, 2004 At first I thought it looked tilted, but after examining the trees I do not think so anymore, nice shot. Enjoyed your afternoon I see:-) Link to comment
colin carron 58,916 Posted December 10, 2004 Hans, yes, the ground slopes down to a river on the left so the mist is also thicker in that direction. You can also just see a hint of a horizon, showing that we are looking down hill a bit. Thanks, it was a nice afternoon! Link to comment
alexandra rauh 0 Posted December 11, 2004 I love that hazy peaceful Country mood until the Sun comes, nice capture. Link to comment

colin carron 58,916 Posted December 11, 2004 Thanks Alix, Ken, Amar, Pnina. It was a peaceful scene and that was the feeling I was trying to capture. Amar, my youngest would really like to have some of your snow but I think it will be a case of 'dreaming of a white christmas' where we are. regards - Colin Link to comment
ljk 0 Posted December 12, 2004 I love misty shots. The success of this is in large part to the strong dark tree. It anchors the whole image. Really good work! Link to comment
gaetanchevalier 5 Posted December 13, 2004 Colin this is a very nice shot and the exposure you have choosen give beautiful light. The tree for me give a lot to the beauty of this photo and offer a nice contrast. Bravo. Link to comment

mspanakis 0 Posted December 13, 2004 Very real and very, very familiar image (London-Southampton every morning). Beautiful tree silhouettes in the background. There are some obvious signs of high presure in the atmosphere, but, in England, can you really tell what the weather be like in the afternoon? (I guess it was morning when you took this picture) Link to comment
djarvik 0 Posted December 14, 2004 Wonderfull as always! Love everything about this composition. Link to comment
colin carron 58,916 Posted December 14, 2004 Thanks Gaetan. I like the tree too! Thanks Steve, Zafar, Manolis and Alon. Manolis, I agree with you that this is a very typical English scene. Link to comment
camilla 5 Posted December 14, 2004 Very pretty! Can't beleive you get shots like this in December! Link to comment
sef1664877429 0 Posted December 14, 2004 And the theme from Black Beauty skips over the mists of an English country morning... but its far to early to be running, so they just graze instead. But that's o.k., cause lazy rhymes with hazy. There'll be lots o' galloping later... nice atmosphere. Link to comment
colin carron 58,916 Posted December 14, 2004 Camilla this was a rare day when the sun appeared. As I did not expect to see it again for some time I went out with the camera. It is not the best weather though at the moment and most shots come out looking very dull. Stephen, thanks. I had to take this before the horses noticed me and all came over looking for a treat. And all they got was their photos taken. Link to comment
bekster 0 Posted December 14, 2004 Hi Colin, I was thinking about shooting (er photographing) some horses today but didn't have a nice mist like this... i was thinking they might like a few carrots... anyway, I digress... This is a very nice scene and photograph, I am impressed by how BIG the tree is, and you have a really nice mood here of relaxing in the afternoon... Link to comment
colin carron 58,916 Posted December 15, 2004 Thanks Becky. I'm glad you mean to photograph the horses rather than anything else! Good luck with the carrots. Link to comment
