digitalsteve 0 Posted December 10, 2004 The sky in this Point Lobos image was completely washed out due to the long exposure required to get the shadow details. I added the sky from a sunset picture I took in the same area. Yes, the clouds were... that color. ... Thankyou for comments and ratings....Steve Link to comment
davidmccracken 2 Posted December 10, 2004 It has the feel of a 50s space age movie set. Don't ask me why. The reslt is dramtic though. I like it. Link to comment
stevenjb 0 Posted December 10, 2004 This is Wonderful! --- You might want to try a tighter crop off the bottom - just below the first stair-step (top tread) Link to comment
cape1232 0 Posted December 10, 2004 It's hard to paste something behind a tree without it looking artificial. It stands out in the picture, especially because the color of the sky doesn't match the highlights on the tree. It's the foreground that matters in this picture, though. It is so interesting and vivid. That was nice work. What if you composed it to bring out that detail along the strong diagonal? I tried to show what I mean with the attached picture. Link to comment

dave_nitsche 0 Posted December 10, 2004 How about the original image but in B+W? White skies aren't nearly as offensive in monotone IMO If you are going to put in a sky, try to have them match a little. These two are night and day. The tree has a backlight from the white sky. Link to comment
marcofrancardi 0 Posted December 10, 2004 Dave I think you're right. I would like to see it B&W. I feel troubled by the mismatch. It looks like taken from a fairy tale this way. Link to comment
5711 0 Posted December 10, 2004 that is really great! i like it better in color..it looks like a painting.. photography goes along with painting in some certain points.. this looks like a painting belonging to some story..some mystic story (lord of the rings..to name one) it is really great..but the framing disturbs me..the second one..the orange frame isnt really needed ..metink.. b/w would be cool too, but not nearly as great as it looks now.. great one!! josh_lukins 0 Posted December 10, 2004 Wonderful image on the whole. I especially like the exposure and detail in the foreground. Looks like an interesting place. The sky though is a little unnerving. Too 'pasted'. Why not take two pictures with different exposures and blend them together, you might get a more realistic look. Maybe use something like DRI from FM. Link to comment
cape1232 0 Posted December 11, 2004 I've done that, and it worked out great, combinging two exposures to compensate for washed out or too dark areas. Here's an example. My picture isn't as nice as yours, and it's much harder to do with trees in the picture like yours, but it is possible. First, the shot with the washed out sky. Link to comment
cape1232 0 Posted December 11, 2004 The combination. It was a little tricky because i moved the camera between shots a bit. Link to comment
