attilio pier paolo panne 0 Posted November 29, 2004 I took this picture from an apartment I rent in New York.I desaturated the colors beside the window, in order to have a picturein the picture, and the reflex on the right, for a better balance.I thank you for any critique and rating. boris_forever 0 Posted November 29, 2004 I like the lighting and the calm mood of the picture. Link to comment
jay weston 0 Posted November 29, 2004 Didnt notice the desaturation before reading your description. Not sure why I like it but I do - maybe its a sense of wishing you were outside rather than being stuck inside, which Im sure we can all relate to! Only thing that bugs me is the frame distracts me as my eye searches around the image. Link to comment
vladvlaz 0 Posted November 29, 2004 IMHO: the houses seem to be too magenta, whereas the foreground seems "too" monochrome, it being completely B & W. Perhaps having a slightly toned foreground would help, or a less desaturated one. I like the angle you chose, but the thing next to the radiator seems distracting; I think the composition could be improved by simplifying it a little. The bit of sunshine on the wall is amazing. Don't know if it would work to leave its reflection on the table coloured as well? LOL I just thought may be if you have nothing better to do, how about moving the table more into the picture, to have the table with those fruits in the foreground blocking that thing next to the radiator? jay weston 0 Posted November 29, 2004 Dunno about other ppl but I really had to crank my monitor brightness to see what Vlad was talking about. When I look at this I see the view out the window and assorted office objects in my peripheral vision. I also wonder about colouring the table reflection... as you can see its a continuation of the pattern downwards yet the colour is gone... Link to comment
attilio pier paolo panne 0 Posted November 29, 2004 I thank you Vlad, your critique is extremely constructive to me.Your idea of moving the table is surely good, but I took this picture several years ago in one of my trips around the States, so, I am not in that apartment anymore, unfortunately, to arrange the picture.I think I can try to remove a bit the objects close to the radiator with PS or The Gimp and try to remove the magenta component from the window too. Thanks again for your comment Vlad. attilio pier paolo panne 0 Posted November 29, 2004 I tried to keep the color on the table too Jay, but I had to remove it since I found this would have unbalanced a bit the colorful part of the picture. Thanks a lot guys, you are too kind to dedicate time to this picture, which I consider more as an experiment. mr.omar 4 Posted January 8, 2005 great angle ! just a suggestion, how about reduce the space on the left and give it to the right side or a tighter crop with less empty space on the left... anyway very good effort with great result ! Link to comment
