Beautiful, classic staircase photo. You are right, it is really not easy to see, and the eye turns it around a few times before it becomes clear.. If its up or down :-) For this detail, I award you a 6 in originality.

it is more than obvious that it is taken from the ground. normally the picutres deserves 6/6...but i am giving 5/5 because of this foolish question

I think the photo is upside down! Try turning your monitor. I think it would look better with the spiral spinning in from top left.
