Hi,

How did you get so much detail in the face? The wrinkles and other facial marks are so vivid, how did you do this?

Beautiful portrait. I couldn't tell he was an homeless until I read the caption so maybe you need to add some background to tell us something about the man. I don't like 2/3 images cropped square since you lose resolution and you can't see the picture in your viewfinder while taking it. I don't see the need to add all that contrast and sharpness to the point we can count the pores of his skin.

Thank you for comment!

there is quite interesting background about this photo, but my English is not good enough to describe it properly :(

man on the picture has 36 years, he is educated (have finished university ), he is living on the street about 8 years...

2/3 cropped image... I do not agree with this discount - it does not matter what format has the finder of camera, I can see final crop when I am taking the picture :) just have to think about it when you choosing the composition. I can not see the point, why should I limit my photos by format of camera finder... and about loosing resolution - why should I include disturbing factors to picture just because I can loose resolution.... Off course - I am using the full format composition as well, and I like it :) but sometimes I think, is better to change format of D70 to format of Fun Factory :)))

- Sharpness: it is resized from big print format (about 40*40cm) so I had to sharpen it after resize - it can look to much on LCD or high end CRT monitor

- The dirty of skin makes contrast to his gentle eyes, I think it is on place on this picture - makes it more emotional... glamour version would be not work - just joking :)

I havent read all the comments above except for the very last by FunFactory. I agree the dirt is an integral part of this portrait. Well done FF.

With "background" I meant the part of the image behind the subject :) I'd like to see more to learn more about him.

You say it does not matter what format is the camera, and you might be right, but for me square format = medium format = huge enlargments with great detail and tones wich is not the case for cropped dslr's pictures.

I bet these pictures will look great printed 40x40cm... I'm waiting for some enlargments of my images to come from the lab right now :)

Thanks for your comment on my image as well!

another excellent portrait in your portfolio! they all look like they walked out of Kusturica's movie, similar aesthetic. are you his compatriot by any chance?

the car light is distracting and why not PS it out? wouldn't you try to burn it if it were film printing?
