sef1664877429 0 Posted November 21, 2004 Wow, almost missed this one, very nice. Great clarity... I wonder what it would look like with a completely black background, though? Link to comment
glenn mellen 0 Posted November 22, 2004 I would think a completely black background would work well on this, but this is pretty much straight from the camera, and I thought the results were pretty good as they were, without PS work. The background is darkened from the use of flash in an umbrella. The translucency of the wings are due to the fact the insect has just recently unfolded them... they're still wet... in a short while they turned more opaque blue/green as they dried. Link to comment
lgreene 0 Posted November 22, 2004 Wow ..This blows me away.. I thought they were a milky white but this is amazing. Makes me almost sad that they didn't swarm this year like predicted.Almost. Link to comment
glenn mellen 0 Posted November 23, 2004 Thank you, Leann. As I understand it, they did have swarms in some areas. Here in Texas, these critters, called "Dog Days Cicadas" appears every year in the dog days of summer without fail. When this fellow first came out of the shell, its wings were milky until they unfurled. I appreciate you taking the time to look. -gsm- Link to comment
jerry ting 1 Posted November 23, 2004 Glenn, this Cicada shot is perfect in all aspects. You truely catch the wonderful moment of an amazing creature that just spent 17 years of its life underground. Bravo!! Link to comment
