davidroossien 0 Posted November 18, 2004 Thanks Jiri! Just posting this for a friend who wants a 10x15 or a 16x20, but can't make up his mind. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted November 18, 2004 One thing I'll say for this version is that allows for a greater feeling of expanse. Link to comment
hugh_hill 0 Posted November 20, 2004 Hi David let me first start by saying that I think this is a great shot the drum scan really paid off here, I bet the print is awesome. The only thing that I can see in this image (and that is barley see) is what looks to be a crane arm on the hilltop on the top left which does not bother me in the slightest as the colours and overall clarity are spectacular. BTW you have a great eye for detail - I dare say that only a very few would have known that that wheel was broke well done and as always I value your comments. 7/6 Regards Link to comment
davidroossien 0 Posted November 20, 2004 Thanks Hugh--that's probably the mast of a sailboat sticking up above the tree line. It hasn't moved since September. Good eye--no one else has mentioned it. There are a few man-made objects in this one--houses, sea wall, sailboat. Link to comment
monique_feigal 0 Posted November 21, 2004 I love the sweeping curves and the detail in the foreground. Link to comment
Jenifer Selwa Photography 0 Posted November 23, 2004 LOVE this!! Wonderful tones and the detail! Gotta love that pin-sharp lens and 4x5. Compositionally pleasing as well! Nice lighting on the sand off to the left. Link to comment
davidroossien 0 Posted November 23, 2004 Thanks Jen! I'm still trying to figure out how to adjust the colors and contrast for printing, but it's getting closer... BTW where's the sun in Michigan these days? I have several subjects lined up, but no sunlight! Link to comment
Jenifer Selwa Photography 0 Posted November 28, 2004 Ya know, the first two weeks of November were lovely - thankfully so the night of the Aurora Borealis! Not sure where it's gone, but I'm hoping to find it next weekend on the Caribbean cruise we are going on... :):):) Link to comment
carsten_ranke 0 Posted December 31, 2004 Superb colors, textures, detail and great perspective. Maybe a camera position more left and slightly rotated right could be beneficial, I would like to see the shoreline coming from the lower left corner. Link to comment
cl5 0 Posted July 7, 2005 Wonderful patterns and textures in the foreground, tones and colours. A wonderful picture. I was wondering whether you have a more simplistic version which does not show the hill in the top left hand corner? But I love it as is. Link to comment
davidroossien 0 Posted July 7, 2005 Thanks Christoph and Carsten! There really wasn't a composition if I moved to the left and used the sand leading from the left corner. If I'd done that, then you wouldn't even see the glowing edge of the sand in the upper left because the sand only sticks out a few feet. By staying to the right I was able to show you the edge of the creek. I had to balance a lot of triangles. The upper left is needed to balance the sand bar in the upper right and draw you to the tip at the entrance to the lake. If you look carefully, the small, upper-left land mass is an extension of the upper right edge of the lower right sand bar. You have to jump over the glowing sand shelf, but I hope you see the continuation of that line. That's what I was trying to do. Link to comment
miles_hecker 0 Posted December 4, 2005 Absolutely wonderful light, tonality, color and composition on this shot. The only teeny tiny flaw might be a little overally dark area in the hillside on the upper left. The strip filter was perfect for the sky but maybe 1/2 stop too dark in that spot. You could easily dodge it a hair and this would be a perfect shot. Well done!! Link to comment
