darrellwhittle 0 Posted November 14, 2004 A decisive moment indeed. Completely different image to the usual interpretation most would apply to this theme but it certainly works. Are they human ova and spermatozoa PT? Great idea!Technically it appears very good, although with this scale/technique it is difficult to know what the limits are. Have you dodged the centre/burned the edges at all, or is that a result of the lighting? Aesthetically i find the dark corners, particularly BR (originally mistyped as BL), a little annoying and would normally suggest trying to limit it. A crop would lose some of the other sperm and would degrade the image considerably IMO but would it be possible to lighten the outer edges a little? Saying that, compositionally a crop of the BR would move Mr Wriggly away from the centre and might work well. Got to have a go and see. Will post soon. Exciting image.CheersDarrell Link to comment
darrellwhittle 0 Posted November 14, 2004 A quick crop and some dodging to the edges. Gives the sperm more space/ova to move into and limits the annoying (for me) corner while still keeping some of the BG sperm. Whadya think? Is this image from one of the new members? Love to know some of the technical stuff for this or will that give you away PT. Darrell Link to comment
gerard 0 Posted November 14, 2004 WOW PT, is this for real? Do you have an electron microscope to play with? :-)I find difficult to make a comment. In my mind I'm criticizing you twofolded: on the one hand, on the technique: If this is a electron microscope, who am I to say anything? The patience and determination you need, leave aside the technical knowledge is quite beyond my league. Yet, on photographic grounds, I find the vigneting quite obtrusive. Yes, it does lead the eye to the action, but on a forced way. Other thing to tackle is the black corner on the lower-right.I understand that electron photography is basically B&W and coloured afterwards and I like your palette. If this is a montage, PT has a great imagination, and I couldn't tell one from the other. In that case, congrats for your creation! Regards, Gerard. Link to comment
pt2 0 Posted November 14, 2004 Sorry folks, the X1000 was intended to guide to the meaning only. This is a straight photo taken in my kitchen, then PS. Link to comment
darrellwhittle 0 Posted November 15, 2004 Alright then PT, lets see the pre PS shot then, LOL. However it was done it is still a clever interpretation IMO. Darrell Link to comment
seven 0 Posted November 15, 2004 Well my theory is, hem : confusion which is not that unusual and much better than if I were viewing something totally obvious. I sense a face pressing down on a surface, or studying the 'sperm' thingie which might be a type of ocular device for magnification purposes. The face is the blue part left. The device, which resembles an eye, is reflected off the orange surface - and is also blue. Shrouded in mystery as this presently is makes it difficult to comment on the relevancy. Thanks for presenting us with a conundrum PT. Link to comment
sallymckay-lepage 0 Posted November 15, 2004 When you invert the image the blue blob on the left begins to resemble an orange. So my best guess based upon PT's kitchen confession is that we're looking at an orange slice with some pulp squeezed out of it. Whether it's pulp ,sperm or something else is immaterial to me. I find it interesting and very expressive. If I had to choose I would choose the egg & sperm concept though because I think it could spark a series. Sometimes you're better not knowing and just enjoy it for what it is. Nice one... electric PT. Sally Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted December 28, 2004 where have I been? after reading Sally's comment yes, an orange and seed or pulp becomes a bit more apparent. I like that you have taken something and made into something it may or may not be. Knicki Link to comment
