Comments and critique are very welcome! Seeing this spectacle, I amreminded of the song 'How Great Thou Art' by Carl G. Boberg...

Lord my God, When I in awesome wonder, Consider all the worlds ThyHands have made;

I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder, Thy power throughout theuniverse displayed.

Chorus:Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee, How great Thou art, Howgreat Thou art.

Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee, How great Thou art, Howgreat Thou art!

And when I think, that God, His Son not sparing; Sent Him to die, Iscarce can take it in;

That on the Cross, my burden gladly bearing, He bled and died to takeaway my sin.

When Christ shall come, with shout of acclamation, And take me home,what joy shall fill my heart.

Then I shall bow, in humble adoration, And then proclaim: "My God, howgreat Thou art!"

Weird - I got the same 'pebble' effect in my aurora shots (D70). All I have on my camera is a UV filter to protect the lens - that must have been the culprit.

I reduced the speed on my shots to get more definition and less blur. I like the painterly effect you got here, though.

Do you know if that artifact/effect has something to do with the northern lights in particular? Or is it more a matter of longer exposures on digital?
