andrew_pike1 0 Posted November 13, 2004 Actually, I quite like it. It's very interesting, if a little grainy. What film did you use? Some Ilford (I can't remember the names) 400 speed film? Next time try something slower, like T-Max 100, Plus-X, or Agfa Scala 200x. Still, though, a great shot. Good job. Link to comment
robidooo 0 Posted November 13, 2004 Maybe a little grainy but I like the subject. Nicely composed. Link to comment
sammm 0 Posted November 14, 2004 The grain doesn't bother me at all, and adds something here, I think, but it would be nice to have the background a bit more set off, either with a narrower dof or with a lighter background. There are some very nice highlights right in the frond. Link to comment
amanda mumma 0 Posted November 14, 2004 I used hp5 for this (Ilford of course)and gave it 10% longer process time for contrast and grain. The dof was deliberate - I wanted the fern leaves behind to 'tell what it is', I felt it looked a little 'alien like' otherwise ;-) The scene was almost monochromatic green which is why I developed longer for contrast and tried to use the light as much as possible for separation and contrast (my husband thought I was nuts, circling this at all different heights and angles)!!
