astronomy Awesome northern light! Please view in the larger format and read the technical details.
You can see a 'corona' that is observed only near zenith (overhead) during strong major aurora activity; so you do not see other things in my composition. Seing a corona like this is quite unusual and generally seen only at hight northern latitude. What a beautiful night that I will remember for a long time! Intense geomagnetic storm produced by the sun give me the opportunity to observe one of the best auroral activity that I have made in my life (I am an amateur astronomer for near 30 years). Here is one of my photo showing a corona as I said seen overhead. Really an awesome display! It is my first attempt in shooting northern lights and it was very cold here (-10 celsius or 15F). Please view in the larger format. Exposure time: 6 seonds; F-number: 2.0; ISO: 100.
