Erosion is an excellent example of positioning the 'source' at one corner to direct the eye with the perspective view of geometry in nature. The photo is able to achieve this effect best with your playing with shadows of excellent contrast without giving away of details and through good depth of field! Altogether, the picture creates a sense of curiosity for a viewer to have a second look. Good composition too. Well done Alec.

Thanks everyone for the kind comments. Isn't it nice to learn from each other. Hope to shoot with you someday. Wishing you and all at PN a great new year 2005.

Alec, I'm with those who commend you for your composition. Superb! My bet is that if I were on your side of the lens my first frame or two would be with a horizontal composition. I doubt I'd have considered this winning vertical combination. I also hope I will consider it next time I'm about to trip the shutter on a horizontal composition. Best, LM.

A perfect catch for the eye!

I can feel moving into that little bush-tree at the end.

Your work is amazing.

I wonder how this photo would work in BW?
