john_stark 0 Posted November 10, 2004 nice catch, but focus seems off a bit. The person to the left is a bit distracting Link to comment
witolda_maruszewska 0 Posted November 11, 2004 This is a lot better than the other shot in terms of focusing and I do like the composition with the fence in the foreground and the car exiting the frame with the spray trailing behind. BUT - the person in the left of frame is very distracting. You've got the right idea about how to shoot, but when selecting a trackside vantage point, you must look around you for objects that could creep into the frame unintentionally and spoil a good shot. rob.mccormack 0 Posted December 31, 2004 Many thanks for your constructive comments. I guess I had the idea that the person & umbrella added a quirky contrast & contradiction to the photo. But on reflection I was taking the focus off the race car - ultimately not a good thing. See my revised crop below. Cheers, Rob Link to comment
witolda_maruszewska 0 Posted January 1, 2005 Rob, the revised crop looks much better. :-) I can see what you were trying to achieve with the idea of spectator with the umbrella though - where you could have gotten that to work is if you were shooting the car head on instead if a vantage point were available for you to do that. ;-) I have added a link to a shot that I took during the Gate-a-Mation Citroen 2CV 24 hour race at Snetterton that might be of interest to you: http://v8.macmillan.co.uk/s_images/wittyfiles/pics/web_galleries/2004_snet_2cv/images/IMG_5061.jpg Link to comment
