pradeep satyaprakash 0 Posted November 9, 2004 Comments and criticism welcome. A photo from 2003 which I never got around to posting to my portfolio. I was not sure it was a keeper, until I took a look at it one year later. Interesting how the passage of a year can change your perception of what is good and acceptable. Link to comment
jay weston 0 Posted November 9, 2004 I like it, though its maybe a bit "complicated" I think the same thing but with no other trees in the background would be better, or maybe with more DOF? Link to comment
pradeep satyaprakash 0 Posted November 9, 2004 Jay, I agree with the complicated part of your critique. That is why I spent so long thinking about it before posting. One idea I had was to selectively darken the tree structure to make it as close to pure black as possible. That would emphasize the colors and remove the emphasis of the tree. I guess then it would look like an infrared image of a terrain from outer space with the tree trunk being a river and the colored leaves being foliage. What do you think? Link to comment
jay weston 0 Posted November 9, 2004 Not sure how thatd look, depends on how you did it I guess. You could mess around with it for ever if you wanted :) One thing Id try thatd be quick and easy might be to desaturate the green/yellow leaves in the background, making them less intrusive and bringing out the red leaves. Ive just gone ahead and tried it, but dunno what I think now looking back at the original haha. Itd look better if you went to the trouble to keep the original leaf colours of the red foreground leaves. Link to comment
pradeep satyaprakash 0 Posted November 9, 2004 Hey Jay, thanks for that. I pride myself on being a decent photographer, but I lack skills with computer editing. How did you do that? It looks very interesting and brings down the cluttered look of the original. Link to comment

andreas_thaler 0 Posted February 24, 2005 Pradeep, I like the colours in the picture very much. You wanted to capture 'fall', and you did it. The clear blue sky offsets it nicely, and adds a nics twist to it (fall 'normally' is dab, grey, ...) Another interesting thing is that when I look at the picture the first time, I concentrate on the tree with the red leaves. The longer I look at it, the more my eye is also drawn towards the tree with the yellow leaves and the distance between the two. Very nice. Best regards, Andy Link to comment
