advancedphoto 0 Posted November 8, 2004 An attempt to salvage a shot of Greco/Roman ruins on an overcast and smoggy day. Trying to give the appearance of a tintype. Comments and creative suggestions appreciated. Link to comment
randall ellis 2 Posted November 8, 2004 Very nice image! I think that the tint is pretty close to that of a tintype. Also, the original border is much more apealing in my opinion. Perhaps it is more like a worn border often found on older images. At any rate, the details are fantastic and the light is well done. Good work! Link to comment
sarahunderhill 1 Posted November 9, 2004 I like the original you posted. It's a nice effect. It's artsy and funky-it goes with the photo. I like it. Link to comment
mediamanipulation 0 Posted November 9, 2004 great shot. looks good with either frame, but i prefer the jagged edged one, echoes the feeling of ruins Link to comment
advancedphoto 0 Posted November 9, 2004 FYI: This is what the original file looked like. Link to comment
colin carron 58,916 Posted November 9, 2004 I find the your 'tintype' border rather heavy but it does have the effect of concentrating attention on the ruins rather than the sky. The sepia conversion rescues the shot. Overall very good! Link to comment
robertbrown 1 Posted November 11, 2004 I like your PS work on this--the muted tonal range and your choice of toning work great for this subject. I prefer the second framing job. BTW, you listed the location where this was shot as Oregon. I have been far and wide in Oregon and have yet to have seen this! Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted November 11, 2004 Robert- tis greek ruins. The photog is a fellow oregonian but he escaped to went a travel'n. ;) I also like the ps work. The edges and tones do add to the tin type you are trying to achieve. Knicki Link to comment
advancedphoto 0 Posted November 11, 2004 Robert, it is in a VERY REMOTE part of Oregon once run by the Rosneeshies (sp?). You can only find it by chanting and using some of the medicinal shrooms found east of Klamath Falls. Hehehe... Okay I messed up, actually the ruins are in Sicily.Knicki, I discovered that Ashland has its' own WALL! Oh yippie... Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted November 12, 2004 it must be a lovely wall to be situated in Ashland. All organic cement I am sure. ;) A big thank you for today! Tell Ken again just how pitiful it is that we missed each other again. Link to comment
