Absolutly Brilliant. If there was one thing I could nit pick at it would be the reds look a little to hot for me. But all photography comes down to personal preferance 6/6

Eric,

This is a great shot. You achieved a beautiful balance of composition by allowing the left bottom corner rocks in the frame. The boats of focus are nicely placed. If I have to pick, I think the sky is a bit over-exposed and the color hue is a bit off. Maybe caused by your scanner?

I happened to visit the rockies June this year. and if you are interested, you can see my version of the boat house here. yours looks better.

Excellent ! Did you split the grad on the line where moutains touch the water ? I'm not very much educated, but I would have loved to see one more shot with the mountains little more exposed

edit: I saw the photo once again.. and I get the feeling that may be it's best that the mountains are not exposed.. it kinda balances the picture and emphasizes the boat

I'm glad that you guys like it. Thanks lot for the comment.

The grad line was placed a little bit above water level, the bottom of the snow mountain at far end. After Spot metering , I realized a 3 stop gnd soft would be best , but I only had a 2 stop soft and a 3 stop hard, I don't think a Hard GND is good choice for this , so I used 2 stop soft , gave up little bit highligh detail on sky and little bit shadow detail on forground mountain, a compromise.

I do have another shot with half more stop open, but the red light on peak was almost washed out. The light on peak was moving so far, about 6-8 minutes from begining to end , the exposure time was about 45 seconds to 60 seconds , I only had chance to make five shots(include changing lens to make a close shot :)), the peak on fifth shoot was already half white.

Also , the film is E100VS, I just corrected it, I put RVP 50 by mistake when I post.

I have another photo about this boathouse was posted three years ago, It was a raining afternoon,

Thanks again, appreciate for the comments.

Stunning. On my monitor, the reds don't look too saturated, but the overall hue is too violet. This may be the 100VS. After I shot a few rolls of this film, I decided I didn't like how it "warmed" everything; even midday shots had pink clouds. I didn't do any longer exposures, but I wonder if this effect is intensified, much as Velvia looks very blue with long exposures.

This photo has a magical quality. From a composition standpoint, everything in the frame needs to be there, and nothing more is needed. Outstanding work. 7/7

Perfect place to challenge the photographer. I once stood on that rock to do a similar shot. Great eye!
