I rarely post to critters' corner (6 in the last 6 months). I thought I'd go ahead with this shot with my fingers crossed that may be, just may be, insight, reading, connectivity, appreciation and a general interest in getting into another photog's head might have broadened. As the 3.14 for aesthetics and 3.57 for originality suggests (in my humble opinion - and the only one I've got), the plain fact is it hasn't.

Wanna know what I think? I think this a rather dainty little picture, the miniature icon well suited to the plastic camera and surprisingly sharp where it counts given the requirement that focus should be guestimated. Clearly, as far as the peeps at critters' corner are concerned, my skill and judgment is below average on both counts. I think there really is precious little point in bothering with the place.

Phil, you know the deal. The judgement of the masses cannot be trusted. The judgement of Balaji can. It's as simple as that. That most people don't get this picture just makes it all the more special for those that do.

I can feel the centuries of struggle, hope and faith that culminated in this found arrangement, and it is profoundly moving. Your presentation of it to us has been done with class and appropriate style. I echo Balaji's comment, "Super, super, super".

Once in a while a critique request is a worthwhile fishing trip for new and interesting photographers to meet online. Don't be bothered if your bait sometimes attracts more gurnards than flathead.

Amen to that! I'm afraid they just don't get this picture which may well be a compliment of sorts. To me it raises all sorts of questions about what hopes and prayers, what faith and fear, created this little shrine. regards - Colin

Thanks guys. Bless you both. Once in a while a blow out does me good. Just like your restorative remarks have. My very best wishes to you for 2005.
