anish 0 Posted November 2, 2004 I had submitted another version of this shot previously, but that slide had an overexposed sky. This is how it should look. Comments welcome.-Anish Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted November 2, 2004 Loved the colors. Great composition although I would have liked more detail in the foreground which is slightly dark. Nice work. Regards. Link to comment
anish 0 Posted November 2, 2004 Thanks for the comment. I agree to some extent about the foreground. In this case there is a 4 stop difference between foreground and sky (I used a 3-stop ND filter + I superimposed the sky from a slide +1 overexposed from the foreground slide), and I just didn't have another slide to work with. The only reason I like this particular exposure is that the deep colors in the flowers is maintained. Thanks again. You have some beautiful portrait work. Are those your kids? -Anish Link to comment

ivar olsen 0 Posted November 3, 2004 I disagree with regards to the forground. :-)) IMHO you have a perfect exposure at this one. I like the depth and colors, and your framing seems to have been choosen with care as well. It works..big time! :-)) See you! ivar 7/6 Link to comment
rajeevthomas 1 Posted November 4, 2004 Anish, this is definitely your best!! I think in this one you have placed the ND filter very well, transition is not visible at all.Exposure is excellent!! Lighting and exposure control with the exceptional composition are the strong points of this image.7/7 Nothing to change in this image! Link to comment
sef1664877429 0 Posted November 4, 2004 There's nothing wrong with a dark foreground, if its dark in reality... this is great. I'm wondering what an increase in height and a lower angle would produce, so that there's more emphasis on the sea of flowers rather than just a few, and the top of the photo is filled with that golden band of clouds... but this one works. anish 0 Posted November 4, 2004 Thank you all for the kind comments! Stephen, I was actually going for such a composition, and shot about 25 slides with that type of arrangement in mind. Most of them went into the garbage, though, as I was apparently too focused on squeezing as many flowers into the shot as possible without thinking enough about the overall composition. The simplicity of the three perfectly arranged iris's in this shot made this one stand out. Thanks again, -Anish Link to comment
jay_patel 0 Posted November 11, 2004 Nice tonal range on this one. Well exposed. Also like the fact that you placed the horizon in the uppper third. Good work overall!! Link to comment
goutam_mitra1 0 Posted November 11, 2004 Wonderful lighting! The three flowers a wee bit to one side instead of being bang in the center would have perhaps been ideal. But this is just wonderful as it is! Link to comment
dhawks 0 Posted November 11, 2004 I think many photographers would have discarded this image as underexposed. They would have been sorely mistaken, it is absolutely perfect. The subtlety of the forground light, the drama of the dark sky and the lightness of the opening on the horizon work together to create a powerful sense of beauty and peacefulness. Well done. Maures 5 Posted November 18, 2004 Really nice image with light playing the main character. Link to comment
