thom6481 0 Posted November 1, 2004 Is the first baseman a distraction? The action was behind the plate for the split second before the runner advanced to second. Thoughts/suggestions? Link to comment

jgreg 0 Posted November 1, 2004 This is a great moment and the look on the boys face is gold! I don't think that the firstbasman does anything but provide more context to the photo. Nice. Link to comment
tmarable 0 Posted November 1, 2004 A good shot. I would have liked to have seen the ball in the shot. Good action. 6/6 Link to comment
Marvin 4 Posted November 2, 2004 I think that the whole shot is well composed (even without the ball). To someone who knows baseball the shot tells the whole story - a passed ball and the runner at 1st is taking off for 2nd base. Link to comment
thom6481 0 Posted November 2, 2004 I would have loved to have the ball in the shot as well but the catcher's (and the runner's) reaction was a little slow...so to get the ball...all I get is the back of the catcher's head. Sorry Link to comment
bens 0 Posted November 2, 2004 thomas, its hard to get a shot with all the elements in the real world. i like this alot for the colorfulness and the catchers expression of concern, the mask being flipped off, the batter's moment of confusion, and the great clarity of the shot. as a baseball fan, its apparent a ball has been misplaced. thinking about it, having the ball would help, but, it would also improve the story line to have the pitcher or a baserunner in motion somewhere in the background. having said all this, i think its a very good shot as is. io wouldn't have commented otherwise. was moving quickly though last night, and didn't say the rest of my reaction at the time. thom6481 0 Posted November 2, 2004 Thank you for your words, Ben. So often people will rate a photo but make no comment on their likes or dislikes. I really appreciate it when people take the time to comment. Link to comment
