reprint 0 Posted November 2, 2004 This wild red-tailed hawk was standing over its kill (a rabbit) when a squirrel popped out from the undergrowth. Luckily it got some sense and popped back in again before the hawk saw it. Would the story have been better told with a greater DOF keeping the hawk and squirrel in focus or does this work where attention is on the hawk and then you "discover" the squirrel"? Thanks for your critiques Link to comment
chris_schultz2 0 Posted November 2, 2004 Why didn't you take one of each? If it's still there, go back for more DOF ;-) Seriously, what you got is very good. I looked at the hawk, read your intro, THEN saw the squirrel. This photo is fun and impressive. Link to comment
casey_crookston 0 Posted November 2, 2004 The squirell in the background makes this shot! Are these aniamls captive? They must be, eh? Link to comment
reprint 0 Posted November 2, 2004 These animals are wild. They do live fairly close to people though so are somewhat used to people being nearby. They are not fed by people but live on rabbits, squirrels and small birds at the wooded edge of a lake near me. I have been tracking the hawks for about a year now and photographing them when i can. I will put a presentation together soon on them. Link to comment
