htc 0 Posted November 1, 2004 Nice still life PT, it fits the theme well. The exposure is fine and i like the volumes here. I would crop a little bit on the bottom since it is a too large dark area there IMHO. Overalla good photo PT. regards, calin Link to comment
steve foster 0 Posted November 1, 2004 I like this image. good themefit, the lighting works well. I might have cropped a little more on the left just before the light on the blinds stops. I also find the blind adjuster a bit distracting. But overall I do like it. Link to comment
livvie 0 Posted November 1, 2004 i like this ... lots of contrast, good tonal range and i like the line of the blind adjuster against the slats of the blind. my quibble would be that the items, and therefore the shot, are too spread out i would have liked to see closer and more grouped items, some closer views of the patterns of the sun through the blinds and how the differing surfaces reflect it. tom t 0 Posted November 2, 2004 Very nice indeed for me too. I'm with Liv about placement of the objects, and the fact that the black vertical (right) merges with the bowl bothers me a bit - moving the bowl and inch or so to the left would have fixed that. Good catch (or good setup?); execution could be marginally better. Tom Link to comment
dominiquedodge 0 Posted November 2, 2004 Before commenting on the aesthetics I'm trying to understand the association of these three objects. I may be way wrong but are these the tools required to induce vomiting (salt + water in the cup, then throw up into the bowl)? That's the only thing I've come up with. A bulemic's window ledge? I feel there must be a reason for the bowl... It's presence diminishes the aesthetics of the photo IMO. In fact aesthetically i'd prefer the cup alone and a much closer crop. i like the way the shadow curves round the cup and think that alone would have made a good (better??) shot (portrait format, perhaps). Maybe a glass bowl, or a reflective one would work better, if the bowl needs to stay (as I feel it must in the interpretation of the photo). As others have said, nice tones and plenty of visual interest here. Link to comment
pt2 0 Posted November 3, 2004 This was found. PT had been thinking and thinking about what to shoot, but came up blank or worse. PT walked by this scene several times in the day, hoping it would disappear. It didnt. On the very last time, the light was right, and it sang out this is it. Why a cup, salt, and a bowl? This is what someone left behind after eating a hard boiled egg. Patterns within this PT's home. Link to comment
