larry_harrison_jr 0 Posted October 31, 2004 I LOVE IT. I just got a 300D, looking forward to all it can do. Question: I see you used the 420EX flash. Is it off-camera or direct? How close approximately were you to the subject? Link to comment

m.h. 0 Posted October 31, 2004 Wonderful shot. Great macro Allon. You have used 2 different sets of equipments for your great macros. Is there any criteria which makes you choose one before the other? Do you find any benefits in any of them that the other one doesn't offer? Link to comment
allonkira 0 Posted October 31, 2004 Thank you all guys: Francesco, Igor, Larry, Pnina, Loft, Mahmood, Sergei, Tony, Cristina! It makes me happy to know you liked it:) Larry - I use the 420EX flash directly on the camera. It's not the best way to use it, but for now this is the equipment I have. And to your second question, I was about 20 cm from the bug. Luckily she was a good model:) Mahmood - yes, each kind of sets has it's own benefits. When I shot with a 50mm lens in reverse position, I get good magnification and better DOF, but the distance between the camera and the bug is approximately 5cm. Not all bugs are very patient to a lens so close to them. Also, "big" bugs (larger than 1 inch) are too big for the frame. On the other hand, when I use the Sigma 105mm lens I get more flexibility. I can shoot large bugs from larger distance. So, I can make some comp. sometimes. Also, you have to remember that I can use this lens only with the 300D and I get larger files in better quality. I can think of some more reasons, but these are the main ones. Thank you all again! Allon. Link to comment
gabriella_lucia 0 Posted November 1, 2004 Allon, I have been considering extension tubes, I have made up my mind to buy them after seeing the quality of your macros. Great work. Link to comment
