A moonlight scenery at winter

timo_inkinen

I exposed this one 30 seconds with a 35mm lens at F5.6 with a slow color slide film. Camera was on a tripod and the image was mirrored from the original with my film scanner. The temperature out there was about -25°C below zero (=freezing cold!) and the moon was full. A night of wolves...

What do you think about this one? I tried to scan this image as

similar to the original slide as possible, but the HP Photosmart's

CCD-tchnology wasn't quite up to this job. Anyway, here's the result.

This is amazing considering it is night. Great subject. The only slight adjustment might be with the foreground. Is that a result of flash on the closest branches? It takes away from some of the effectiveness of the scene.

I'm not too surprised by the results, as I know from experience that snow does reflect a lot of moonlight, especially during a cold night when the sky is very clear.

I recently learned that you can do a picture tht looks like daylight under the full Moon if you set the aperture at f4 and expose for 1/ISO th of a day. 100 ISO = 1/100 of a day = 14,4 minutes. You have to add the necessary time for reciprocity failure. You might want to try this some night.

The subtle foreground lights come from a nearby house about 20m (60ft) away. The time exposure emphasized these so that I couldn't see them at the photography site but only from the result. Anyway, attached below is another photo from the same night.
