I'm suspicious. I can't figure out how the light can be coming from the left (shadows on the right sides of the sheep) yet the sun is directly behind them.

One of the best shots I saw on PN for a while. Biblical, yes, a wonderful mystic, arcadian atmosphere you created here. Congrats, Carsten

Bravo Muhammad, this is so beautiful, like a master's painting on canvas. Really beautiful.

It is indeed a beautiful image for many of the reasons already mentioned (Arcadian, painterly, composition, biblical, magical lighting.) I was wondering what additional light source has been used to the left of this image - the one that has the sheep shadows falling to our right as they do?

Difficult one for me. I'm trying to understand why it has so great impact.("Joy Ride" by the same photographer is far better, imo.) The technical quality of the photo is what bothers me most of all. It's normal when shooting a back lit scene to have problems with colors and grain. These problems are inherent to such photos and couldn't be explained simply with scanning from a print. So many posters above mentioned the photo is like a painting but not a single one said something about the colors. Unusual, isn't it? Guys, do you really like those colors? Are they of no importance in a classical pastoral? Do they add to the mood like the grain does? Or, maybe, this photo triggers something very strong inside the viewer (Freud's tribal subconscious ?) capable to easily override the visual/technical appearance of the picture. Honestly, I'm confused. Regards. Blago

This is a superb image executed with finesse and originality seldom seen on PN these days. Irrespective of 'direction of shadows cast by the sheep' or the 'strange interplay of colors' OR 'the doubt about the back lit scene and the beam of light in the back ground' I think the photographer deserves a 7/7.

Come on folks...we all use PS to enhance our images: the trick is to make our viewers stop and contemplate: This image has accomplished all that.

Congrats on capturing the image and Congrats for whatever 'postproduction magic' you did to make it look the way it does.
