An unidentified airplane just grazes the Moon's left limb during the

total lunar eclipse of October 27, 2004.

Fascinating image. I initially thought it was light reflected from powerlines from an on-camera flash unit. What was the exxposure time??

Thank you Michelle. I had my camera mounted to my telescope and used the following settings for this shot.

When I shot the moon I had auto settings on my Dimage A2. 10 sec f 3.5. That got very bright. I f I had used manual and set a higher f would that be as using faster shutterspeed or will it make a better exposure?

Great shot.I always try to find something of interest to add a pazazz to my astrophotgraphy .I was socked in with rain and snow last night so I didn't even get a glimpse of it.

Very nice and very original. Did you see the airplane coming and time your exposure accordingly? Image is crisp - must have had equatorial mount with motor?

Erik,

I did see it coming and timed for it. You called it. I did have this on my telescope with an equatorial mount and drive!

Thanks to all!

I sat outside in a blanket and watched the whole eclipse, like the Supergeek I know I am. lol. I tried for a few pictures, but the apartment lights just got in the way. Beautiful photo, a nice capture of such a rare event.
