i took some medium format film, taped it to the front of my computer monitor and took pictures, sometimes placing sperate negs ontop of others to create what image i wanted

Keep inovating Jack, I can't say this one worked for me...(so 3/3 sorry) I assume you've reversed in software... as they are +ve? Maybe a lightbox would be a good investment... or try masking them off in a 35mm slide and project onto something...
