jeff callen 0 Posted September 10, 2001 This is an interesting image, powerful due to the split focus and the slightly devilish look in the cats eyes. The slightly wilted flowers and the predatory cat combine nicely with the juxtapososition and focus split to form an image that proves that yes, you can make art with images of kittens and flowers. In a way, this is more interesting to me than many of the images of flowers that look like interior decorating by Robert Mapplethorp, and the orange color adds a visceral feeling to it, which could be heightened by a darker print. You might find some of the writings of the photo critic A.D. Coleman and Barbara Maria Stafford to be useful in thinking about your work. P.S. Thanks for using an old cheap camera and generic film, being able to make a great image with randomly available equipment and materials is a true gift, please don't let the techno-maniacs distract you from shooting images like this one. slrshooter 0 Posted September 12, 2001 Did you accomplish this sandwiching slides, merging images in PS, or was the cat really there. Wonderful shot! Link to comment
genevieve_bertrand 0 Posted September 18, 2001 The cat was really there (as he is always around when I try to take a picture!) but I guess this time it paid off. I was wondering if the fact that the cat was off focus could be a problem. But I guess I like this picture like it is. Thanks for your comments! Link to comment
