I'd like to know your opinion about this shot. I took it disregarding the rules. It is

taken at noon when the sun and the shades are strongest. However I found this charming

corner which I labeled WINDOW and I couldn't resist the temptation. This shot shows

one of the advantages of a digital camera against film e.g. DYNAMIC RANGE.

Thank you in advance for posting your opinion,

Anton Dan

Nice subject, and I think shooting at midday has not harmed it at all. I like the framing and composition, except that the bit of city visible at the lower right looks a bit jarringly industrial to me. I also feel that the dark parts are too dark, and they make the whole thing feel a bit claustrophobic. If they were brighter I think the shot would be much improved.

Thanks for your comments.

Claustrophobia? That's a surprising definition.

I took the picture from about 6 meters from the bush in the foreground.

This is really a very cozy green corner hidden behind the bush you can see in the foreground, and flanked by large pines on all sides. On a hot day like the one I shot this photo, this retreat is a blessing.

While taking cover from the scorching sun, I noticed the natural window above the bush, which gave a glimpse of sky and sea and I took a picture.

You are right about the industrial ugliness in the corner. The truth is I got used to it and I didn't notice it.

To me it looks like a plain photo. not a postcard, definitely not. Too many dark spots on the pic and there is nothing that catches you in there.

i think you should have decided if you want to see the port and city buildings or not . since in your picture i feel some unrest ( un postcard feeling )when a bit of that is seen between the bushes . in my opinion more of the city and bay could benefit .

to lower the contrast between the sade and sunny areas you can come in the early morning , even before sunrise , but this will be utterly another picture . anyway i am happy to see your interesting picture .
