chris_schultz2 0 Posted October 28, 2004 This came out better than I would have expected from a 300mm lens (I assume it was zoomed out all the way). Was an extender used? This has been done a zillion times, and I'm really having trouble understanding how someone came to rate this as 7 for Originality. If there is anything original about it, please speak up, because I missed it, and it's the only way I'll learn. Link to comment
captainronsphotos 0 Posted October 29, 2004 Thank you for your comments. Your right it's not original but I didn't rate it. It was taken zoomed out with no tubes @ 1/400 F8 ISO 400. I was on a boat in the San Juan Islands, WA on a very dark night around 1AM. Cheers! Ron Link to comment
chris_schultz2 0 Posted October 30, 2004 Ron, no offense meant on the originality, I meant for the "7" rater to speak up - I don't understand a 7, and would not understand a 1, because aiming your telephoto at the moon and pressing the shutter is going to be a 4 (average) every time in my book. Well, make it 4.1 for being on a boat. Just before this was posted, I took a shot of the moon 2 nights ago at the beginning of the eclipse - same camera, aperture, ISO, shutter, but with a 70-200mm f/4L, so it was 33 percent smaller. Your shot appears to be better than mine by more than 50 percent, so that should make you feel good. I used autofocus, and maybe that was a mistake. Link to comment
captainronsphotos 0 Posted October 31, 2004 Chris, no offence taken. I also don't understand some of the ratings I see here, but that's why we all have different likes and dislikes. As far as different in size of the moon it must be 200mm vs 300mm? Cheers! Ron Link to comment
focuslightstudio 0 Posted November 20, 2004 Nice clarity, sharpness, and detail. Thanks for your feedback as well. I guess hand held is out. Link to comment
focuslightstudio 0 Posted November 20, 2004 Ron, I just realized you used the same lens and camera! Was your shot hand held on the boat? Link to comment
