the lone ranger 0 Posted December 2, 2004 This is one of the most dramatic photos I've seen on this website. The long shadows make the shot. I love how the figures were compressed into the landscape. This makes me want to be there. Although im sure i wouldn't want to be there in reality. Link to comment
thiago monaco 0 Posted December 3, 2004 In my opinion, something that synthesizes what many people already mentioned: the property of transfering you onto the place itself. A great travel photo is the one that makes you feel you are the photographer, that you are there. It's the photo that "looks" one scene the way it would be viewed and in this way, each travel scene has the best ways of being transmitted to provoke, to make one strongly desire to be there, to travel. It's a picture that transmits the feelings, the smell, the taste, the light of a particular place, a picture that transmits the very place to the viewer and nonetheless makes us try to realize what's next, what was not in the picture but was there. What could I have seen more if I would be there. Well that's my opinion, at least... Link to comment
pampolin 1 Posted December 3, 2004 I would love to be in place like this one, to get an opportunity to make a picture like this one. I loved it! As you can see in my gallery, I just have pictures in Sao Paulo. Link to comment
shamik 0 Posted December 4, 2004 Though many caravan shots have been taken previously, sometimes we miss the point when we say that this isnt a great original compoistion. In my mind, enduring images such as this one, dont need to bracketed under the originality count. It stands on its own. Besides, Pennie has done wonderfully well in capturing great mood and depth in the photograph. The colours and the lines add to the feeling. That itself is original. A brilliant capture. Congrats. dennis_sevilla 0 Posted December 4, 2004 simply wonderful! it's refreshing to see work like this. it should remind us (myself at least) that this is essentially why we're all doing this, whether it be travel, studio, or any other kind of photography. it's about the moment in front of you and how you choose to interpret it through the lens (no matter what gear you have). mark_j._weber 0 Posted December 4, 2004 I wish there was some way to respond without rating as a "Travel Picture". To me, it stands as a moving, simply great work of art. Just gorgeous - voluptuous. My congratulations. Mark Weber Link to comment

hot74 0 Posted December 6, 2004 For this photo alone I would not even classify it as a travel photo for it gave me the feeling of being taken by someone spying on a caravan. It felt so local. It is a very good composition also both as curvatures, colors and framing goes. On the travel photography issue, I think that a good travel photo indeed has to be a good photo in the first place. So it best to focus on whether there is any discerning aspect of a travel photo. For that matter I am not certain whether there is such an element. Consider for example photos of the Bedouins taken by a pro-photographer travelling there or a pro-photographer locally based. If the end result is the same, then the fact that it was taken "while travelling" should not matter. Personally other than classifying the occasion, I am unsure as to how to clearly discern travel photography from non-travel. Link to comment
bobbyc 0 Posted December 11, 2004 Good photo. nice study of shadows. Very rhythmic; portrays Oriental sensousness. I would like to see it in Black and White. with more detail and perspective. Link to comment
paperfenix 0 Posted February 11, 2005 Just a little point ... Details in shadows, teh effect should be better in black and white,. The picture is magnific and the angle is an excellent performance. Mario Paper Martinez Caballero Link to comment
