toni bauerlein sehnert 0 Posted October 21, 2004 The word breathtaking can be defined by this image. It is otherworldly. So artistic. The light is exquisite. Composition is fantastic. Tonal range is fabulous. Bravo! Link to comment

stefan.unterholzner 0 Posted October 21, 2004 This one makes me really dizzy. On the one hand it looks like an island govered over with palms and fog floating down the island. One the other hand it is more obvious an awashed rock. These little (hopefully) plants really make the difference. This is a fantastic example what can happen when you can hardly get the scale. It works so perfect. Stefan Link to comment
thomas_breazeale1 0 Posted October 21, 2004 Thanks everyone for your comments. The tranny was in the square format but because of the vast areas of water surrounding the rocks the lack of scale' effect was lost.Of all the croppings I experimented with this one just seemed to hold water better. f_ferraro 0 Posted October 22, 2004 This is certainly a beautiful piece of work. I am curious...this looks more like a painting than a photo. Is the lighting, coloring, effects, etc. all original (as taken) or what was done to the photo post exposure to obtain this image. Like I said either way the image is beautiful but it would be nice to understand what went into making something like this. Also I find the perspective very interesting, how did you get it? kslonaker 0 Posted October 23, 2004 This struck me as being taken from high up, looking down on an island, covered in fog. It IS hard to get a sense of scale with this. The little plants look like tiny trees, enforcing the idea that this was taken from high above. The top part resembles clouds, rather than water. Anyway, it's pretty cool! Link to comment
root 0 Posted October 23, 2004 I thought your other shot was intriguing with it's play on light and shadow, so I wasn't as drawn to this . . . until I looked at it large. I agree with all the comments about scale and would love to see this printed large. Link to comment
harnstrom1 0 Posted October 23, 2004 One of the most stunning pictures for weeks in my eyes. Top rates. Link to comment
thomas_breazeale1 0 Posted October 23, 2004 Other than levels and contrast there has been no manipulation done to this image not even saturation...in fact I desaturated the reds just a touch to balance things out a little. As stated before I cropped all the way around to take away the sense of scale and hopefully put you in fantasy land.Water textures are due to slow shutter speed and great afternoon light that turned the whole world into golden hues. The polarizer brought out the detail and emphasized the blues in the shadows.I was standing probably 30ft above the rock on a cliff.Thaqnk you all for your comments and questions again, always welcome...
