The leaf was place on a stand 15 inches above the deck and

photographed at f 4.0 to minimize DOF. The central focus point was

where the stem meets the leaf so even the scalloped edges fell out

of focus.

I see I'm not the only one who is fascinated by the colours of leaves in the fall! (I'm working on some fall colour shots right now that I hope to have posted later this month)

I like what you've created here... The colour vs. b/w works well. Composition is good, too. Only thing that I would like to see is more detail in the edges of the leaf, things seem to get blurry around the edges. Other than that, good job!

Regards.

Thanks Dario and Matt.

The shallow DOF created the blurred edges. Even though this was a staged photo I felt that the soft edges lent to the feeling of a falling leaf.

I love the hint of red color and the contrasting and interesting background...feels like the leaf is suspended or perhaps falling...great composition.
