geo sun 0 Posted October 16, 2004 that is some lighting and texture. Wondering how did you find a place like this? Geo Link to comment
the lone ranger 0 Posted October 17, 2004 This is a great image. I think adding a close up foreground element would only ruin the image because the sparsity mixed w/ the light makes a very intriguing image. It's different from the normal cliche of wideangle 80/20 ratio. good job Link to comment
richard van hoesel 0 Posted October 17, 2004 Eric, this is a fabulous light display that for me is a subject in itself on that fluid landscape filled with cracks. I like this a lot - but not simply because it has "a bit of colour", it's very much how that colour is rendered by the interplay of the light and form (an orange filter for example wouldn't have any of the power this has). I wonder if pulling down the midtones and/or increasing contrast in the sky would better compliment the drama below and make for an even stronger whole. Link to comment
rajeevthomas 1 Posted October 17, 2004 Eric...there will a lot of people here will tell you this image being empty and you need a much stronger foreground subject etc...but in my opinion this is a complete image. The whole image here is the subject...it is filled light, colors and simple beautiful earth!!! You have captured a perfect photo here..I am glad you didn't run around looking for a thing that you place on the foreground and missed out on the heavenly moment. This is not empty ..this is full light!! 7/7 Link to comment
sriram 0 Posted October 17, 2004 Wow. Beautiful. I might play with trying a crop by taking out the top 10-15% of the image. In fact even crop it just a little above the horizon.... Link to comment
eric_fredine 0 Posted October 18, 2004 Thanks again folks. Richard - Yes, I think pulling down the mid-tones in the sky would be better - there seems to be 'room' to do it. Thanks for the suggestion. Geo - I really just look for 'candidates' on the map drive over and have a look to see if there is anything interesting. Usually there isn't. Sometimes there is. These environments also change a lot throughout the year. Thanks,Eric Link to comment
