philmorris 0 Posted October 6, 2004 It's very well exposed for shadows, but I think the lighter parts could be even whiter. Link to comment
mclaine 0 Posted October 6, 2004 Oh? I didn't realise the white was a bit muddy, thanks Phil. Off course this is no blockbuster, but when I get around to putting together a print collection of Deny's place, I might consider throwing this in. Link to comment
andy e 1 Posted October 20, 2004 I think Phil's point is right and would help make the image "pop" just a little more. Compositionally, though, I think this very cool with its competing lines and all. I think it was worth the effort taking the picture of this. Link to comment
mclaine 0 Posted October 20, 2004 Thanks Andy, great to see you've been posting a few of your beautiful works lately. I was particularly moved by Heartland. Sorry I failed to comment on it, but Doug and the others had my feelings covered. Cheers, Link to comment
andy e 1 Posted October 22, 2004 John, many thanks. That's a high compliment coming from a master such as yourself. Its good to be seeing your gorgeous work as well. How's the printing going these days? I may need to pick your brain soon as I'm faced with having to set up my own darkroom within the next couple of months. Link to comment
mclaine 0 Posted October 22, 2004 A darkroom project? Fantastic! Do you already have some of your own gear? Are you handy with tools? Do you have the room picked out? Do you have drainage available to the room? Do you have a reasonable budget? Obviously if it's only a temporary assignment to the country town, you won't be wanting to build something too permanent and expensive. If space allows, I'd suggest you plan a workroom/studio and darkroom paired together. I find it invaluable to have a decent sized work room adjacent, for matting, spotting, dry-mounting, etc. Mine is still a work in progress, but perhaps I should post a few digi-snaps to at least show what I've done so far. It might make for an interesting discussion thread. I'll go and tidy up downstairs to take a few snaps. Link to comment
