Scanned print. Just started learning to print my images; any darkroom or other critique welcome.

I find this image a little too dark, but it is interesting nevertheless. You might want to try pushing Tri-X one stop if you want to hand hold. Another good alternative is shooting Tmax 3200 and pulling it one stop. At least you'll have more margin of error and room to maneuver.

Cheers

maybe it's just a scan as I see plenty of details. did you scan from a negative or your print? i wish you luck with printing, it can be frustrating but when you finally get it right, what a thrill that is. i wanted to refer you to my friend's page -- this shot has a similar climate to one of his photographs. I know you are doing larger formats as well and that's what he's been doing for years. Check this photograph by

Steve J Murray.

Maria, thanks - it is s scanned (Epson 2400 flatbed) print. It is dark: my professor thought I could go a little lighter too, when I reprint I'll try posting the new version below. I'm just a dark woman I guess...

Here's a print made a bit lighter; wonder if the scan will show the difference...

I hope you'll forgive me for playing with your image (i'll take it down if that upsets you). i'm not so good with a kind of photography where a tiny detail can threw the whole composition off balance & such are your images. But if you wanted to show more detail, there are ways to do it -- I simply adjusted levels in PS to compensate for what you lost during the scan. M.

Maria, thanks; I am struggling with this negative as it either looks too grey and mushy when printed low contrast/lighter or too black (which I like but my professor wants me to fidget with). I'll get it right eventually - I appreciate your help.
