I think you should have used a larger aperature because the image looks soft from diffraction. Also, I wonder if there was a way to shoot this situation as a horizontal by adding more the range and cropping into the sky while making the image. The deadwood and rock to the left just below the tree line detract from the beauty of the scene. Perhaps, getting lower to the ground or choosing another view would obscure or disguise those elements. I think I would have shot it at a different time of the day. The light is a little contrasty.

 

Robert, thanks for your comments. I think the diffusion is a result of the scan, as the original slide looks pin-sharp under the loupe. However, your comments about the dead wood and cropping are very helpful. I'll dig through the rest of the roll and post the results.

The photo was either too small or tlllarge for my screen, but I would have liked to see a leading line from a corner gong into the photo. The shore line would be fine, it is a little high for my preferences. That may or may not have been possible from the shooting location.

I wish I had found a similar location when I was there.
