portraits and nudes Lost in thoughts (better scan)

Maybe a landscape orientation, taking some of the water, would have been better. Or even medium format 6x6, but that's another story!

This is actually a candid shot of a friend who was lost in her

thoughts looking at the running water. I find the composition quite

nice, but I'd like to hear your comments. Another point: do you think

that seeing the eyes of the model is important in that kind of moody

portrait?

I would say the composition is good, but the contrast levels in the picture seem off, adjusting this perhaps to bring detail out in the hair might give you the results you wanted.

The composition is nice (actually a new framing for the seated posture). The only thing that bothers me is her head. It's too dark and not evocative of the contemplative mood. I don't think eyes are necessary, but there needs to be some definitive gesture that seperates it from merely slouching woman. I hope that helps.

 

P.S. - i love the angled rock/leg

I don't think we need to see the model's eyes

everytime. And this pose works well for me,

very nicely balanced in the frame.

I find the shot too dark. Her hair is a black

blob -- can you manipulate this for less contrast?

Great composition, beautiful tones, very moody -- love it!

Excellent subject and pose. I think the environment should be stark but perhaps a little more panoramic. Still, my favoite portrait in this folder.
