Brilliant, though I like 'double ring' better.

I won't even begin to say something profound, or go into a critical analysis. This is a photograph of a Solar Corona. That's it. It is sharp, well exposed as a photograph, and the composition is good. It is also, I suppose, abstract, and to get to the point, it fascinates me and I admire the photographer for taking it. That's specialisation for you, and that's dedication.

Actually, in a photo like this, there is not much choice for composition. You either get it well centered or you don't. Less exposure would show less Corona, but more Chromosphere (and red color) like that in comment above.

.... flipped upside down? Of course, perhaps Mr. Sherrod *is* the original photographer and licensed the use of this picture to Microsoft...

yeah, Venkatesh is right. It is the same picture... or the same solar eclipse was photographed at the same time by two different photorgraphers, and the radial lines etc. were viewed the same by both photographers... unlikely, I would think.

....the previous comment. Of COURSE there was a large number of photographers shooting this eclipse at the same time, and the shape of the corona would be the same for all of them.

As for the photo itself, it was VERY well done.

To have a good picture of eclipse is only possible with a part of chance. Anyway, your crown is beautiful. What do you think about my eclipse pics (3 in my "others" folio)?
