Love the textures, and the inclusion of the knot. The composition works, is well balanced, but something is missing. I think it is too simple for me, and the objects that give variety interest (wood knot, nails) are very small. I think perhaps it would be interesting if the knot appeared one plank higher in the composition and out of the shadow (to the right of the shadow).

I really enjoy simple, almost minimalist compositions like this. There is also a nice overlay of textures to explore. I'm not sure if it would hold my interest over time or not... only time would tell. I think I'd have prefer it to be consistently sharp throughout the frame though.
