Gull attack

ml

I have seen many times sea eagles attacking gulls to get their fish. This gull started attacking the sea eagle. Doesn't she realise the Eagle could kill her with one swipe of a talon? Very brave gull. 1dmk2.ef500.Eos 1DmkII,ef 500 1/1250 sec f5.6.Miguel Lasa PhotographyVisit my Website, click here

Beautiful shot, well timed and great expressions! I live near many Eagles and Seagull, crows etc. I see this happening often. The smaller birds are much more mobile than the larger eagles and they often tug at the tail feathers as well as swooping and diving, both when the eagle is flying or when it is perched. Very rarely have I seen an eagle retaliate, most often they put up with it or take evasive actions. when the eagle catches prey, the smaller birds are even more agressive!

Beautiful, to get both birds this sharp is phenomenal! 7/7. Miguel, I tried to rate this 7/7, but I seem to have run out of 7/7`s. I will update this tomorrow, regards, Jim. Any one rating your photos needs more 7`s than they allow.

Beautiful shot, Miguel. In my part of the world, I often see much smaller birds attacking crows, but occasionally a hawk as well. The smaller birds are typically so quick that they are not at much risk as long as they stay above the larger bird, grabbing an occasional feather or otherwise harassing the bigger bird until it leaves their territory.

Tbe background is clear, uncluttered and blue...very good.

Both the birds in sharp focus ... Excellent.

The expression of anger and aggression on the face of the Gull and

that of defeat on the face of the eagle adds a lot to the inherent value of

the picture.

The best of all is 'No technical manipulation'

A TRULY GREAT PICTURE!

A truly natural and superb image. Impressive in many ways and on many levels. The technical term for what is happening here is mobbing. It is very difficult for the eagle to hunt when this is happening. Perhaps the gull has something to protect. A sea eagle would only go for smaller and weaker prey any way and this gull is a fearsome preditor in its own right. Not that it would see the Eagle as food unless it was carrion. Both birds are known as carrion eaters anyway and gulls are known as cannibals. Sorry to be so technically ornithological please feel free to ignore me. Regards Ken.
