advancedphoto 0 Posted September 23, 2004 The texture and angles of the wood and harsh shadows appealed to me. Link to comment
johncrosley 1 Posted September 23, 2004 Rev. Brent, I'm afraid from viewing this with just four ratings, that you'll find as I have observed, that the Photo.Net system does not reward (1) B & W photos, and particularly (2) B & W Photos in which texture is a principle function of beauty. It may work exceedingly well in a physical gallery, especially in a silver halide print -- even be stunning, but with pixels, it just doesn't carry so well. But I'm impressed, just like I always am, with each and every thing you have posted as well as the entire body of your work. Regards, John. Link to comment
advancedphoto 0 Posted September 23, 2004 As always thank you for your words of support. In posting black and white I hope that someone will discover the joys of chiarascuro and the infininte details that can be captured by utilizing traditional photo methods. As far as rating go, this is just for fun. A 1/1 here is nothing compared to a critics panning at a one man show, on the other hand a 7/7 here feels just as good as someone buying your work to hang on their walls or add to their collection. Thanks again, Rev. sef1664877429 0 Posted September 23, 2004 Yes, texture is a problem with photos this size. Maybe side-lighting would help with texture shots, trying to make them leap off the screen. This is my fav of the three, but the straw, or whatever it is weakens the composition a little, a small point. Link to comment
