Guest Guest Posted September 22, 2004 In the middle of nowhere this hulk will always remain. I know my photos suck, so if you leave a 2, tell me why, or leave 7/7s and I'll buy you dinner at Joe's Stone Crab in Miami. Link to comment
brandonhamilton 0 Posted September 22, 2004 I have seen this very wreckage photo'd many times. This photo doesn't "Suck", but it certainly isn't very interesting. Maily because it's very plain/normal perspective, angle, and centering of the subject. You need to move your feet, try different angles, different distances, anything out of the ordinary. Even try things you think wont work. Either way, you will learn that shooting things strait on, at a medium distance, dead centered, with an ordinary perspective doesn't work as well as you think it does. Link to comment
brandonhamilton 0 Posted September 22, 2004 even using something small like a different crop, can make a HUGE difference. Link to comment
grinvalds 0 Posted September 22, 2004 I'm interested in seeing more detail of the subject... a bit too much empty space. Link to comment
wernher 0 Posted September 23, 2004 I think that Brandon's crop suggestion is a good one. Additionally the sky in the original is a bit dull, although I know there's not much that you could have done about it. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted September 23, 2004 The scans were marginal, from a pro shop, I'm kinda pissed but they lost a customer. Interestingly, I had a taken photo, almost axactly the same as the suggested crop, probably closer with a 35 mm MF lens, but I scanned/printed this one as the "pro" lab tech said this was much better More "ambience", my first impression was to print the other, I should have. The sky is pretty plain, thre was never much color there, Angola is pretty polluted, plus sea level sky is hard to get on an interesting day. The ship also had it's name welded on the side, I wish I was able to pick that out of the shadow. Lastly, shot on 100GX at sunset, the boat was a great glowing rusty brown, the scan didn't get capture that either. I think it is time st start to look for a good scanner and ptactice, practice practice. If you revisit this pic, take a look at the comments on the pic Retired War Bird. Thank you for taking a moment to comment, you guys are the core of what makes this a great site~md Link to comment
claremcgee 0 Posted September 24, 2004 Maybe could have been cropped in? Love the wreck but the sky doesn't hold the interest quite as much Link to comment
